Letter A ch 1-5

This is a picture of people working on a farm and they are picking wheat. In chapter 3 the author uses a turtle as a metaphor for the working class, primarily in the fields. The turtle is described as, "The back legs went to work.." (15). There were many workers in the farms picking during the warm weather. Many of these workers had to work in the hot sun because it was the only way too make a living during the great depression. The weather in the book was described as, "The sun lay on the grass and warmed it.." (14). There were limited trees where they worked because they were all cut down to have an area to plant there wheat. The effect of not having trees is that during these warm weathers they won't have any shade to rest under in. Also, not having trees can cause the land to be dry because there won't be any soil, which could cause the dust storms that they have.

  1. Make sure to include chapter sections and assignment letter for this.

Would like a bit more fleshing out.
